Area of Research / Artistic Focus: Digital design and narrative

Gideon Slife is a Master of Fine Arts graduate student in Digital Media and Design. Gideon has an interest in narratives told with digital methods and explores ways to tell those stories with new tools. He also has an interest in illustration and how traditional art may support or translate to new media.

He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 2012 and taught undergraduate typography and interactive media at the University of Delaware in the 2017-2018 academic year. He found a true passion for teaching in this experience and aspires to use his masters degree to teach at the undergrad level in the future. His professional experience is in web design and front-end management mainly in ecommerce. Using his skills for design to translate stories, needs, and research is what guides him to explore the possibilities in interactive digital design and new media, as well as desiring to guide the next generation of artists to push those same boundaries.

Industry Experience: Five years experience at a web design agency and two years experience with an online educator focused on web design.

Fun Fact:  My first public recognition of my art (some say still my best) was winning a color contest at a circus in 1994.
