Busra is a Turkish-American filmmaker and educator whose work often portrays historically marginalized characters, not as victims but as complex characters with dignity. Her short film, Asylum, which premiered at the 2022 Brooklyn Film Festival, was inspired by her experiences translating for Turkish refugees seeking political asylum in the US. The film is a contemplation on the thin line between offering to help someone in need and speaking for them.

Busra holds an MFA in Directing from Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and teaches filmmaking at the University of Connecticut.  Her current work explores the intersection of movement and intergenerational trauma.
