Amara is a first-year MFA candidate at her alma mater, University of Connecticut, in the Digital Media and Design program. Her focus is on UI/UX Design, and web and interactive media design. She is currently a Graduate Assistant for DMD 1101 Design Lab with Professor Ting Zhou.
She recently received her BFA at the UConn Fine Arts Department in Graphic Design and English. She wants to use her creative background in design in a more technical and theory-focused way through the MFA program. Her interests include using design for social good and providing unique narratives for marginalized communities. She wants to be involved in every single aspect of the creation of the product to fully understand its role in the lives of users while taking a humanitarian-focused approach to her work.
Through the Digital Media and Design program, she hopes to work with faculty and fellow students to learn and apply user research, combine UI design with consumer behavior and psychology, and explore data visualization in UI design.
