UConn Digital Media and Design and Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts will co-present an exclusive festival screening of the film “Summertime” on Saturday, April 24, 6:30 PM EDT.

As part of the Diverse Perspectives in Digital Media and Design: 2021 Speaker Series, the “Summertime” virtual red carpet and festival screening will showcase the independent film almost three months before the national release date in July 2021.  The film premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and will have Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco opening July 9 and a worldwide release July 16. Variety Magazine praised “Summertime,” saying it was Estrada’s “hallelujah to L.A.”

About the Film

“Summertime” is an ensemble film featuring poetry and performances by 25 young Angelenos, in stories that intersect and intertwine as they make their way around the city on a hot summer day. A skating guitarist, a tagger, two wannabe rappers, an exasperated fast-food worker, a limo driver - they all weave in and out of each other’s stories. Through poetry they express life, love, heartache, family, home, and fear. One of them just wants to find someplace that still serves good cheeseburgers. The film was developed by 27 young poets, many of whom are in high school or college and have never written a movie before.  https://gooddeedentertainment.com/Summertime/
