Hongchan Lee is a first-year M.F.A. candidate at the University of Connecticut in the Digital Media and Design program, where he is focusing on UX & UI design and programming.  

Hongchan Lee began studying digital media in 2017. While earning his bachelor’s degree, he created 3D animations and live action films. But now, he wants to learn about the metaverse and artificial intelligence by studying programming, coding and UX & UI design to prepare for what he expects to be the ascendency of Artificial Intelligence within media. Hongchan also has a deep love of the horror genre, and eventually he wants to combine his skills to create  a well-made horror experience.

He has various professional experiences in different fields. He taught teenagers how to draw in preparation for their entrance exams to universities in South Korea. Hongchan was also an intern with a broadcasting station in New York where he worked as a news editor and motion graphic designer. His most recent experience was as Producing Director at a 3D animation studio and commercial design company in South Korea. After graduation, he worked as a project director organizing and controlling the process of creating 3D animations and advertisements.

He currently works as a Teaching Assistant in UConn’s DMD department, teaching DMD 2210 Film & Video Editing I and DMD 1002 Foundations of Digital Media II.
