Artist Statement

“Story of Emily”, a web design project, explores how interactive storytelling can serve as a medium for social advocacy and moral engagement. Hongchan is interested in how the emotional essence of a narrative is transmitted through the “aesthetic of rupture”—using web-based interactions and motion graphics to visualize the psychological impact of digital violence. By integrating scroll-triggered animations and nonlinear structures, he invites viewers to carry the emotional weight of a story, treating interaction itself as a form of presence and recognition within fragmented digital landscapes.
