Areas of Research/Artistic Focus:  Documentary filmmaking, digital curriculum development for Holocaust education, video installation art, interactive performance.

Heather Elliott-Famularo is an award-winning filmmaker and artist active internationally in the fields of broadcast television, computer graphics and interactive multimedia, with a focus on collaborative digital humanities and public education through digital media. Her documentary, Bearing Witness: The Voices of Our Survivors, won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Palm Beach International Film Festival and was nominated for an Emmy award by the National Association of Television Arts & Sciences – Lower Great Lakes chapter. She received a Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad Program grant for her work on the collaborative project, Walking Witness: Civic Responsibility in the Shadow of the Holocaust, and an Ohio Humanities Council grant for the Bearing Witness Summer Institute, an ongoing inquiry-based research project developing 21st century interactive, digital curricular materials based on extensive historical research and collaboration with community partners and students. She has presented, and her work has been published and exhibited, internationally in Canada, Hungary, Italy and Poland as well as at iDMAa and SIGGRAPH, where she has also acted as curator and juror of numerous exhibitions.

Ms. Elliott-Famularo also has a long-standing commitment to the digital arts community. She was Chair of SIGGRAPH 2004 Emerging Technologies, where she organized and designed an international exhibition of 30 ground-breaking interactive installations of both technology and fine art. Additionally she has served repeatedly on SIGGRAPH Art Gallery and Education Committees, as well on the Information and Publicity Committee for the 1997 International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA). She currently serves on the board of the Ohio Council on Holocaust and Genocide Education (OCHGE) and is committed to using digital media to promote social justice activism.
